Professional Engineer (Mechanical or Structural)

System One is seeking a licensed Mechanical or Structural Professional Engineer (PE) for a Direct-Hire/Perm opportunity for a client in Manheim, PA.

The Professional Engineer provides support to the Sales and Drafting teams. This position handles the day-to-day design and review of custom tanks and pressure vessels. The Staff Engineer ensures that all products are designed in accordance with the appropriate (STI) Steel Tank Institute, (ASME) American Society of Mechanical Engineers, (UL) Underwriters Laboratories, or required design standard prior to construction.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review of project drawings and specifications to ensure that all applicable design standards are being met.
  • Create PE stamped calculations (wind, seismic, etc.) as needed per project to ensure that tank, or vessel design meets all required state and local specifications.
  • Interact with Foreman to develop and revise welding qualifications to meet project design specifications.
  • Research and identify new, efficient cost-saving processes to improve productivity.
  • Provide excellent customer service for all employees and customers.
  • Work with team on product development.
  • Perform others tasks as directed by supervisor.


  • Bachelor’s Degree as a Mechanical Engineer OR structural Engineer
  • Minimum of three years of experience in an office environment as a Mechanical Engineer OR structural Engineer.
  • Licensed Pennsylvania PE (Professional Engineer; P/E; P.E.) stamp (additional state’s preferred).
  • Experience and proficiency working with CAD design software.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to create proper business letters and utilize proper grammar/punctuation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Data entry experience

Fire Protection Engineer/ Senior Fire Protection Engineer
We are seeking an energetic, ambitious Fire Protection Engineer to join our firm as we continue to expand our client base in a variety of markets. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your technical and personal skills in a leadership role in the firm. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical project engineering and for cultivating relationships with current and new clients.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: B.S. or M.S. in Fire Protection Engineering or B.S. in a related engineering discipline plus specific fire protection experience.
Work Experience: Minimum of five years of progressive experience in engineering and code consulting; application-based understanding of the IBC, IFC, National Fire Codes, and Life Safety Code.
Licensure: PE License or intent to obtain licensure.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite; HASS; AutoCAD; Revit; FDS and Smokeview
Other Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to convey technical issues to non-FPEs in a clear manner. Must be capable of performing field surveys involving occasional physical exertion. Must be able to travel via airplane when called upon by project demands. Must be self-motivated and willing to learn.
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance required for government work.

We are seeking a talented and experienced Engineer to join our dedicated group of professionals in Harrisburg, PA.  As a Water & Wastewater Engineer, you are responsible for:

  • Preparing water and wastewater engineering project designs
  • Providing project review, QA/QC and compliance to client specific requirements
  • Preparing plans, specifications, and contract documents to enable the bidding of projects
  • Completing project permitting requirements
  • Representing client, project and/or HRG at various meetings
  • Serving as construction field engineer during construction of projects, which includes:
    • dealings with contractors
    • interpreting designs and specifications as required
    • preparation of work change directives and/or change orders

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with Environmental emphasis
