Design & Construction Project Manager (Electrical)

Job Location: Harrisburg, PA

Job Description: The Department of General Services (DGS) is currently seeking a motivated, experienced Design & Construction Project Manager (Electrical) located in Harrisburg, PA. The selected candidate will manage Capital Funded projects from initial assignment of the project through the post-construction to ensure effective and efficient delivery of quality designs.  Negotiate, draft, issue and approve payments for outside professional fees and work orders for all assigned projects within the projected dollar value.

A professional engineering license is preferred.

Required Experience: Six years of professional building design, construction administration, or construction management experience for renovations and new construction for commercial, institutional, or educational buildings, and a bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, construction science, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment: Possession of valid licensure as a Professional Engineer, Registered Architect, Professional Land Surveyor, or Professional Geologist by the Commonwealth of PA or a reciprocal jurisdiction; or possession of a valid professional level certification issued by a nationally recognized and accredited professional certification program in Master Level of Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).

Salary Information: $61,223 – $92,988 annually based on experience.  Employees also enjoy a comprehensive benefits package.  Please note that the Commonwealth does not offer relocation assistance.

Job Description: We are currently seeking a passionate and highly motivated professional to perform the duties of Senior Electrical Engineer in our State College office.

This position works with project teams to determine design criteria, establish drawing sequence and presentation, size various system components, select equipment, and develop system layouts. Senior Engineer would interact with clients to discuss system design alternatives and recommended solutions. This position requires solid communication skills with project team members.  In addition to design duties, this position will assist the Regional Technical Director with executing the firm’s quality assurance program.

Structural Engineer

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in structural building design as well as construction document preparation.

Job Purpose:

Perform engineering work relating to the design and construction of architectural projects associated with building structural design.

Essential Duties:

  • Performs site surveys and investigations, structural analysis, and design assistance working with project managers to develop construction drawings.
  • Engages in the design of building superstructures and foundations, equipment foundations, utility bridges and supports, access platforms, and stairs.

Job Description: Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop civil engineering drawings for Fiber and Utilities related projects
  • Manage projects and work closely with upper management to make sure that the scope and direction of each project is on schedule, as well as other departments for support
  • Attend meetings to discuss project status and coordinate deadlines, and be responsible for completing the project design sets on time
  • Prepare and review construction drawings for completeness before final PE review
  • Perform site walks with Clients and document existing site conditions
  • Read and analyze blueprints/drawings
  • Research municipal databases for mapping information
  • Create base maps utilizing ArcGIS
  • Manage municipal review process
  • Prepare engineering response letters

Requirements:
