Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Consult with Branch Manager and Principals in Charge on business development activities and prepare proposals, project cost estimates, personnel assignments, project scopes and deadlines.
  • Responsible for client interface and coordinating engineering design production to meet desired service, quality and effectiveness.
  • Review and approve project documents, modifications and changes for quality and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with engineering staff and clients throughout design process.
  • Conduct job site observations or inspections as necessary.
  • Travel to local project sites is required; some overnight travel may be expected.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC/Mechanical consulting and design.
  • Experience with AutoCAD is required; Revit software experience is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in project and personnel management is required.
  • Design experience in healthcare or higher education is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to meet project deadlines and provide outstanding service to clients.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple projects.

Reporting to the Manager, Value Added Products the Electrical Engineer is an integral team member that contributes in the continued innovation of window coating technology and to the success of the plant.  The Electrical Engineer is expected to manage and coordinate a range of electrical projects focused on plant equipment and operation, electrical design, control systems (Allen Bradley, Modicon, HMI – Wonderware), automation and a variety of other plant projects including capital projects.

In order to become successful s/he will have to quickly learn PPG, our products, manufacturing process, equipment and customers in order to identify areas of opportunity and improvement that contribute to the success of the plant.  In this role it’s crucial to develop practical engineering solutions to problems arising at any phase of the project and successfully lead the plant.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all assigned projects are designed to comply with applicable codes/standards and PPG EHS policies and that installation is completed adhering to the PPG Contractor Safety Manual.
  • Provide electrical leadership and guidance to all team members across all cross-functional and plant departments
  • Define and design electrical systems and specifications for new equipment and installation
  • Investigates electrical failures, properly troubleshoots plant equipment/systems, and effectively leads through the appropriate action plan
  • Design, modify and programming of PLC’s and interface control systems

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • At least 2 years of electrical engineering experience
  • Previous PLC programming experience

Preferred Qualifications (in addition to Required Qualifications)

  • Registered P.E.

  • Consult with Principal in Charge on business development activities and prepare proposals, project cost estimates, personnel assignments, project scopes and deadlines.
  • Review and approve project documents, modifications and changes for quality and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with engineering staff and clients throughout design process.
  • Conduct job site observations or inspections as necessary.
  • Travel to local project sites is required; some overnight travel may be expected.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education and/or Experience:
  • B.S. Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical systems design is required.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA, IEEE, ANSI and electrical equipment standards is required.
  • Proficient in REVIT, AutoCAD; SKM Electrical Design software experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management such as cost control, estimating, forecasting and personnel management.
  • Experience in industrial and commercial design highly preferred.  Mission Critical experience a plus.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to meet project deadlines and provide outstanding service to clients.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Ability to work in and foster a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • License(s) or Certificate(s):
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration required.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain valid driver’s license.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain Security Clearance.
